Oh man, these trailers are amazing. "Born Black" had me literally laughing aloud. Too bad blaxploitation trailers never seem to go over too well with the crowds whenever I run them. Maybe it's because the audio on the surviving copies isn't good enough for them to easily make out what's being said.

The great scientist/wizard known as Patrick Macias linked us from his blog, and might I say that loading up the Anime Hell radio blog while perusing http://patrickmacias.blogs.com are two great tastes that taste great together. Patrick, if you happen to read this--and I'll probably post this in your blog as well just to be sure--everyone I've shown "Cruising the Anime City" to has liked the book very much. But the main thing that kept them from picking it up at the bookstore to browse through it of their own accord has universally been...well, the actual NAME of the book.

DR. BLACK AND MR. HYDE is one of the trailers I always play at my shows. Bernie Casey hulking out and Rudy Ray Moore talking smack, "Don't give him no sass or he'll kick your ass!" That's Entertainment!

I've got all but one of Patrick's books, and I always check his blog for concentrated Nipon pop beat poems...

I'm still hoping to put up a radio.blog of my own, devoted to the background stock music of yesteryear!

Dear Nigger Lovers & Black Street Fighters,

Yes. The name of my book does instead suck shit-ass. But better an rumpy name than no name at all, which was the alternative to doing whatever the publisher wants. The next book will be named Date Rape and will be dedicated to the voice of many of those great trailers of yore: Adolf Caesar, also the pitchman for the United Nero College Fund. I wish I was making his up.

Does the manga artist Date Rape have a website?

Whatever happened to the days when you could call yourself Monkey Punch and have a good time?

Date Rape is kinda famous already, but behaves so badly that she doesn't want me to use her real name. Everyone is cool, until they find out you have one of those filthy blogs...

I simply assumed it was a matter of course that "Date Rape" was actually Junko Mizuno. Sort of like how everyone still instantly recognizes Char Aznable no matter if he dresses up like Heino or dons a not-quite-AIUEO Boy track suit lookin' getup.

I personally am extremely dismayed at the revelation that Rapeman was NOT written by a woman after all. It was written by two guys who used a woman's name for a pseudonym. It's like finding out the tooth fairy doesn't exist.

Or that YOUR baby was...BORN BLACK!
