Pac-Man: Genesis

There was a short series on Discovery or The History Channel that focused on video games and there was one specific episode about the rise of the arcade machines. I gotta find that tape, it was very good but I can't remember the name of it. They had footage and interviews with the programmers who developed the original PONG!

I may have seen that special or not. There's a number of documentaries out there on the classic arcade phenomenon and how the Video Game Crash pretty much ruined our lives (even though I was too young to notice). All I know was that you could go to a Dairy Mart and play Bad Dudes without acting like a jerk for loitering! :-)

I still find the Japanese Puck Man flyer pretty kickass, especially the way Pac-Man looks like he's grabbing hold of his nose in a phallic sort of way in that one pic. Now you know why Bally/Midway tried to change it with those weird blobby designs on their cabinets!

I think this is the show:

It's a very good documentary series, worth hunting down and watching.

Thanks, I see someone did bother sticking it up somewhere in BitTorrentLand, but I see someone's still seeding it's European release under the title "I, Videogame".

One of the torrents on Pirate Bay is in Russian while another has Norwegian subs, but what the hell (there's also YouTube, but I like tangible copies I don't have to get in parts).

I'm glad somebody's sharing it. I was really hoping that they'd put the series out on DVD, it's that good. But no luck. Now I'm glad I taped it off air when I did.

Being reminded my mom and dad probably played pong just before they tied the knot, but I don't have any real reason to think it happened, but I like to think that way.
