The ironic thing is that MTV no longer plays music videos. Makes me wanna pull out my hair.

Happy Birthday, MTV. Too bad you are no longer the cool channel you were twenty years ago.

Because I was swamped for most of the day over private matters, I forgot to do something for yesterday here, but whatever, you guys can find out for yourself!

And yes, it's all hair-pulling for me. I think when it comes down to it, the novelty of cable at the time MTV showed up was one of what specific theme or genre could be covered on it's own without straying from that fixed notion? CNN was about news, MTV Music, The Weather Channel for weather, Nickelodeon for kids, ESPN for sports and all that. That was what made cable something you wanted back then when it was providing more of something the regular stations couldn't do all the time. Then the 90's happened and we started to see that sudden shift with channels getting into different avenues and other programming that isn't quite befitting of it's namesake or objective. Then the reality TV stuff exploded and here we are today. The whole Pay TV thing pretty much fizzled out for me in general since I feel it has lost its focus long before.
