Tintin and the Shooting Star

The end may not be near, but it was almost Endsville for Tintin in this heralding adventure!

It's certainly an interesting cartoon. It was produced by the Belgian studio Belvision through some collaboration with Larry Harmon Productions (the people who own Bozo the Clown and Laurel & Hardy copyrights), though I wouldn't be surprised if the animation wasn't done here too. The English VA's for most of the characters are Paul Frees and Dal McKennon though I think they use British voices when it aired in the UK subsequently.

One thing to note is the somewhat inconsistencies and creative differences seen in this series as they don't quite follow the books they were from, often using characters like Prof. Calculus who doesn't appear in the earlier adventures before "Red Reckham's Treasure" for instance. They also took on the cliffhanger-style approach where each episode was about 5 minutes each and all that, much like Crusader Rabbit, Ruff & Reddy and Rocky & Bullwinkle that came before. It's a very unique experience.

Incidentally, this might be the very first episode in the series, with Tintin sounded a little different than in later episodes (perhaps he's played by Larry Harmon instead :-P).

I've only ever seen the Nelvania Tin Tin cartoons that ran on HBO. So seeing this, and hearing the voices of Paul Frees and Dal McKennon made my Saturday morning. What a great find.

I see the vid was just taken down and a notice that "Starz Media LLC" owns this, I didn't know that! I don't expect them to do much with it at all if they must (aside from tie-ing into the film's release if possible).
