When TV was local...

And yet, I miss the 15 minutes of fame I had on one local kiddie show back in the 80's I wish I had a video copy of!

Oh yeah. This is what it was like.

There was a show like this on our local UHF station. Saturday nights. Live polka band and dancing. Lemme google this...

Holy cow, it's still on the air.

Yeah, I really do miss local TV.

If I could I would run an access cable show. It would be SO local you'd never know about it.

yeah, it was a petty attempt at being bored out of one's ass, even I would've loved being on a show like that if I was 10! (and yes, most people used those necklace mikes since those were the only thing available if not using clunky boom stands). It wasn't really until the 70's when lapel mikes started getting smaller anyway.

The reviewer sorta forgets these shows were "sponsored" to begin with, and they were what people could watch for free back when all you had was a few channels to choose from, so there was more chances of getting your product sold even in a city like Chicago among the big boys like WGN. Public Access of course really can't count in that direction when you did had super talented people who became celebrities overnight in larger markets.

I would've wanted one too!

Well it's nice to know, somewhere in Minnesota, people still want their televised Polka! Now if they could stream it, that would be perfect!

I would watch it!

Detroit's TV history was also very unique when it use to be in the Top 5.
