That Indian "Robot" movie

Look, I know everyone loves the final action sequence with the snake made out of guys, but it's got some really good dance numbers as well. Heck, the one linked above is with the creator of the robot. The one with the robot itself is just mind-numbing.

Phenomenal, really.

This reminds me that I need my own robot.

Oh. but they are all pigs

Old enough, but still fun. Drag acts are always funny.

Zoo Drill, which is a great name for a band.

Oooooo, the bear is angry.

They also did drills for a tiger and a rhino.

"Iskandar" is Persian for "Alexander"

For some reason, I always see "Star Blazers" in my head when this track plays.

But then, I have some massive plots in my head.

Yeah. About that....

It's always sounded like a chase to me. A horrible horrible chase.

Who needs actors?

Hell, who needs sets? Still-photos are fine!

Run, Jim! RUUUUUUUN!

They gave this guy a kids' show.

For every occasion

I can't say I've ever needed one.

I have to say, he's not half bad on the slap-bass.

Think about that crazy rhythm....

What you're looking at there is an explanation of how this piece is performed. I only thought about it because of this.

And then I remembered this video. I only know about those guys because someone one sent me this very addictive track.

Now, while I'm typing all this, I hear another rhythm and think about typewriters and printers. Even animated printers can be cool.

This also makes me think about tap dance and that sound.

And I also think about the little musical numbers from Zatoichi and the rhythm of daily life.

But honestly, it reminds me of this.

So. Many. Remixes.

BONUS: Here's some Jim Henson and Ken Nordine. I'm feeling kinda Beat tonight.

What I do with myself

So I was watching this video and playing the track below and I was very pleased by the results. There's something very William Gibson about it.

Meat Beat Manifesto - "She's Unreal"

(Start the song, then the video. Mute the video.)

I do this: watch videos with the music off and play music. I'm tellin' ya, watch "The Backyardigans" and listen to old skool rap. YOUR LIFE WILL NEVER BE THE SAME.

This just made me happy

It's not quite Dogme 95, but it's close.

If it was easy, everyone would be doing it.

It's a tough age

Mad props to Stephen Miller for finding this one.

So bad it's.....bad.

I Am Here....Now (trailer) from Cinefamily on Vimeo.

Remember what Matt said about The Worst Movie Ever Made and then ask yourself why they're religious. Or about trains.

Actually, thinking about it, an ellipsis should only be three dots.

Power ON!

Hat tip to Patrick Macias!

Camera

An interesting film, considering the ending.

A remix?

I can only do stuff like this in the middle of the night.

Creativity

We used to play this game in high-school. Any object will do.

Dangit!

I missed this tonight. I'll have to go see it on Sunday.

Debaclypse

Events for the Superbowl have been insane, due to weather. The band for the above video, Deerhoof, was supposed to play with another group, Yann Tiersen. Yann got stuck in the snow and missed the gig. They still played some music, however.

I'm hoping that these two videos can be of some inspiration: nothing is too hard to do, and make good use of your time.

Happy Year of the Rabbit

I have no idea what they're talking about. It could be a deconstructionist argument a la Derrida (and in my mind, it is better if that is the case). I just like the animation.

I am pretty sure the voice for the rabbit is the same talent as the voice for the jackal in Маугли, but I'll have to check on that.
