I'd said that it was a good use of animation, because it wasn't something you could get across with live-action.

Well, in watching "The Stone Tape" (still on a Nigel Kneale interest binge!), there's a scene where Jill does that EXACT shudder (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=veGrGk0uBd4 1:09:38 in). It CAN be done live-action, it's just rare.Dr. Milahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02709123264511789800noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7693402.post-20807960827191571682012-08-08T20:04:23.345-05:002012-08-08T20:04:23.345-05:00I don't agree with the sentiment that Fire and...I don't agree with the sentiment that Fire and Ice showcases Frazetta's work.

The animation fails to capture the essence of Frazetta's paintings. Admittedly it's a difficult task. But Fire and Ice should've had the best chance to convey the imagery and it fails. Can you look and Frazetta's Death Dealer and see anything of it in Fire and Ice? I can at least look at Frazetta's Conan paintings and see a glimmer of them in Conan the Barbarian and even in Conan the Destroyer.

Let's go watch Frazetta: Painting with Fire. At least that movie showcases Frazetta's work, literally.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01621988278894362595noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7693402.post-19965133057008281912012-08-07T14:00:20.088-05:002012-08-07T14:00:20.088-05:00As a film showcasing Frazetta's work, it certa...As a film showcasing Frazetta's work, it certainly wins that argument clearly despite those missed opportunities.

And speaking of Frazetta (and only bringing it up as I noticed this blog post just now), here's an off-topic look at his early days as an animal comics artist!
http://cartoonsnap.blogspot.com/2012/08/frazetta-funny-animal-comics-bruno-bear.htmlChris Sobieniakhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09838106041175506925noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7693402.post-8328772585375692222012-08-07T13:43:49.700-05:002012-08-07T13:43:49.700-05:00From what the comment had stated, it sounds like a...From what the comment had stated, it sounds like a "no-brainer" type of film, though one that might put me in the same position as you with wanting to see where else it could've went.Chris Sobieniakhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09838106041175506925noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7693402.post-64721625690563719472012-08-07T10:04:27.084-05:002012-08-07T10:04:27.084-05:00This makes me look forward to watching John Carter...This makes me look forward to watching John Carter.
