I noticed that the Youmacon Hell show got a mention over at http://weeklyanimereview.libsyn.com , which is an anime-oriented podcast that started up in August. They're on their 11th show now, so check them out and see what you think!
On the subject of podcasts, some friends of mine are actually considering starting up an anime-oriented podcast of their own, and I'm pretty sure I would end up being part of this thing despite having mostly made-up credentials on the subject of Japanese cartoons and comics. Of course, I have no idea how exactly one would go about pulling this off; surely in addition to having the audio recording equipment and sound mixing know-how, one would also need a proper website/blog and affiliations with several podcast networks for people to actually FIND the show. Sure, there's libsyn, but that costs money and I want everything on the Internet FREE, dangit!
But who knows? Perhaps if we figure out all that stuff, we'll have a place to put up Hell podcasts other than the one that Danno and Bruce made. Sure, doing those means you're effectively missing out on the whole "video" portion of the free-form audio/video presentation that makes Hell what it is, but it offers the audience and host/MC feedback that you don't get from just the clips alone.
I've been wanting to do some sort of video blog thing for awhile now. If I could find one of those digital cameras that can shoot in the dark I'd point it at the crowd and post that somehow. The fine folks at archive dot org seem to be ok with hosting this kind of video. It's video with copyright issues that they have a problem with.
I'm pretty sure there's more places that'll host video and podcasts for free out there. I just need to google 'em.
BTW, if you do a podcast lemme know. We can host and post 'em on animehell.org. I'm always looking for more content to put up, as long as it doesn't eat up all our bandwidth.
I got the chance to listen to the show. The Anime Hell related portion of the broadcast starts at the 10:30 mark and runs about 90 seconds. Hear them rave about Fish Fight and Heino, who they don't think is actually German! Midnight Madness gets a mention too.
Wow, this first-year con even had a panel called Your Favorite Anime Sucks, AND it was run exactly in the manner that I envisioned it but never opted to do since I didn't think it would actually work in real life! It's not the same as Totally Lame Anime; it's more akin to the "Your Band Sucks" feature on Something Awful.
I'm gonna ask the weekly anime rewiew folks if I can post that excerpt on animehell.org
So, YOUR FAVORITE ANIME SUCKS involves picking a pop anime show and mocking it mercilessly?
-d!
If I get a VOIP phone would you wanna do a HELLpodCast?
