Boing Boing: Ultra-violent Charlie Brown student film: Cory Doctorow sez: "Bring Me the Head of Charlie Brown in an old, ultra-violent student cartoon that takes off on the Peanuts gang, turning them into a cast of savage murders hunting a berzerk, mohawked, Taxi-Driveresque Charlie Brown. Link
Update: Adam sez, 'Thought you might like to know that the 'Ultra-violent Charlie Brown student film' you posted on Boing Boing was made by Jim Reardon, a Simpsons director who's currently working on a Pixar project. Another Simpsons director, Rich Moore (who was also a supervising director of Futurama), is mentioned in the credits as one of the voices for Charlie Brown.'"
It's been over a year since BMTHOCB stole the AnimeHELL bandwidth, and it's still going...

Just goes to show people just never know until they find out sooner or later! With this film, it kinda trickles through the channels before someone has a chance to savor it's taste.
(still keep thinking of the second season DVD box for The Simpsons where Reardon does mention the show as well, and that was like 3-4 years ago).
Now that the cartoon has been MPEG-ed and placed here originally, it can now live on via YouTube, Google Video and other mindless venues! Also replacing the previous crappy VHS editions I have had in the past. I still think a copy I have on DVD I got from one friend rocks for having some other Cal Arts material included like Rich Moore's crappy effort!
I'm just surprised that that clip has had so much life. When we use to show it live at AnimeHELL shows it recieved a diminishing responce until it was dropped from the show. Now it's like it's being rediscovered over and over in the web video boom. So very strange...

It is strange. You'd think it would be in the public mind by this point, or is it just a minority that care to see it at all.
Perhaps people outta rediscover "The Spirit of Christmas" again! Boy I remember back when I had to spend like a half-hour downloading that sucker over a 56K modem back in college as a quicktime file! People these days with DSL/Cable have it TOO easy! :-)
P.S. Love seeing the mangling of a familiar anime icon for your "Otaku Hell" pic!
