Freedom River (1971)

Dang, that's older than me. Some things never change.

Oh, hey, Louis Roth Clothes. They make some very nice suits.

The studio behind this use to put out some pretty amusing shorts in the 70's like these...

Is It Always Right To Be Right (another Orson Welles gig, they won an Oscar for this): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GMuRMPU8Z7E
Metric Meets The Inchworm: http://www.dailymotion.com/.../xne490_metric-meets-the-inchworm-1974_tech

I do know one or two guys who worked on these things, but rather a shame there hasn't been DVD/Blu-Ray releases of this material. I suppose I could ask.

As for Louis Roth Clothes, I guess they forked over some cash to make "Freedom River". Too bad though if they went belly up like any other Ma & Pa establishment, but nice to see people bother saving those suits at all I guess. A local restaurant that was around for nearly a century finally hanged it up for good a few months ago near me. I never even ate there. I hate living in the past.

Would you do a post on that, please.

Knew you'd say something.

Do you mean a post on the studio?

If so, I probably could. I feel like I need to put a little more effort into it than simply share off links. Sorry if it seemed like I put way too much effort in these comments otherwise. I guess I like context with my posts!

I'll do it, though I'd love to look for an online copy of the John Henry film first ("The Legend of John Henry", nominated for an Oscar in '73). I do have it on 16mm myself, just not on video.

Ha ha. Of course you'd want more on it, but it's interesting and the kind of thing we're looking for and digging through the comments is no fun. We'll have to find a way to get a copy of John Henry uploaded. Maybe there's something in these drives.

True.

Reminded they also did an adaptation of Shel Silverstein's "The Giving Tree" and it's probably one of the most heartfelt moments of my childhood to have seen it in school.
