Ko-Ko (1988)

Charlie Parker played be-bop
Charlie Parker played saxophone...

That video above, "Ko-Ko", was made in 1988 and made by hand. It should give you a whole new appreciation for beans. Someone played the music tonight and it reminded me of all this.

I've talked about Alive from Off Center on this blog before, as well as what a huge influence it was on me. What I'd like to do here is share with you one episode in particular.

If you have a copy of Danny Elfman's "Music for a Darkened Theater", then you've heard this track before. Now you can see the animation that inspired it, plus a little extra song by Mr. Elfman himself. Enjoy.

This is the one that I was most happy to find. The song that Me-an and her sister sing to the bird (09:55) is one that pops into my head to this day. I still find myself humming it, even if I don't know the words. That's how memories work.

Sadly, I wasn't able to find a copy of Jane Aaron's "This Time Around". I did find this story about her death earlier last year, which you should go check out. Turns out, she did a lot of work for Sesame Street and they have a good showing of it there. You never know what you're going to find.

Sally Cruikshank left quite an impression on us all! I wish she did more movie openings!

I was sad to learn of her passing too. I remember quite a few of her work that showed up on TV a lot in the 80's. Here's a few of my faves...

Found a copy of a book she illustrated at a Salvation Army some months ago.
