finally...

Blogger finally emailed me and let me choose a new password. It only took them a month. The good news is, they emailed me six times!

Well, my new password worked yesterday, and does not work today. I'm forced to conclude that Blogger sucks. People interested in what I have to say about Anime Hell are advised to visit my Livejournal, particularly the entry from October 4:

Back at the hotel I hauled my junk down to the main room, got my cuing monitor and my table set up, got instruction in all the gadgetry of the AV equipment, shooed the MMI guys away, and settled in for Hell. MMI had provided us with an overhead projector-type camera hooked into the main circuit, so I could put stuff under the camera and have it appear on the main screen. This would come in handy later.

I ran selections from the TRIUMPH THE INSULT COMIC DOG CD while Mari Ijima finished up her autograph line and got started with Hell only about 15-20 minutes late, which is practically on time as far as I'm concerned. The first thing I ran was Tezuka's JUMPING - it's very quiet and it took the audience three or four minutes to settle down and just watch, at which point the punchline ("Welcome to Hell") was a grabber. I showed a lot of newer stuff, ditched some of the old favorites (did not show BRING ME THE HEAD OF CHARLIE BROWN, among other things) and apart from a few cuing problems things went remarkably well. Dan had three tapes full of JAPANARAMA wackiness and there's a singing act of two girls dressed up like the literary versions of the Dirty Pair, which is stupefying and the audience loved. Ryan had new Hell stuff on DVD and his DVDs ran great. Only problem is we had to cue the DVDS using a teeny-tiny monitor, and it's hard to navigate through the menu when the selections look like little blobs. However, I had made a list of what was on each DVD in order, so we used the list and our wits and managed to cue things without having to use the main screen, which would have given everything away and ruined the audience's surprise. We projected photos from the Heino autobiography on the main screen and those were big hits, especially Heino and Mick Jagger and Heino in his karate uniform and Heino at Nuremburg ratting out Himmler. Just kidding on that last one. I actually had to ditch about twenty minutes worth of stuff so that Ryan could get Midnight Madness going on time, which to me is always preferable to running out of material with ten minutes to fill.

After Hell we went up to Carl Horn's party and Patrick Macias and I bonded over Cheap Trick's first album, and then we went in search of karaoke, which was over, and then we went back to Carl's party and closed it out and went to bed.

S'funny. You're listed as davermerrill on the Blogger Dashboard, and they sign you as davemerrill everywhere else. Very strange...

My username is davemerrill. Blogger doesn't have a user with the name "davermerrill".

You left out the part at Carl's party where Joe Yabuki and Captain Mask (from Danguard Ace) materialized in the conjouring circle...
