When we were tots...

CAPTAIN KANGAROO

THE BISKITTS

THE CHARLIE BROWN & SNOOPY SHOW, SATURDAY SUPERCADE and DUNGEONS & DRAGONS

THE DUKES

Have to give you links since the S.O.B. who stuck up some episodes of this show fails by not having them embeddable.
"The Dukes in Hollywood" parts 1, 2 & 3

BENJI, ZAX & THE ALIEN PRINCE

THE BUGS BUNNY/ROAD RUNNER SHOW

FAT ALBERT & THE COSBY KIDS

THE CBS CHILDREN'S FILM FESTIVAL

"Skinny & Fatty" parts 1, 2, 3, 4 & 5

"The Red Balloon"

That is all, well, maybe this classic stalwart (since my CBS station like taking out a half-hour of cartoon time for it)...

Oh yeah, they always played Wild Kingdom right after the Saturday morning cartoons! I forgot all about that.

I wanted to forget, but often I had to stick my nose into TV Guides to see how many CBS affiliates like dumping out of a particular toon in favor of this, usually after 12 or 1 'o clock, that was usually what we had on anyway (or sports).

Being reminded of bowling being aired on the weekends this way, and had to also remind myself of one such bowling alley that no longer exists nearby that used to host those ABC ones back in the day. I was depressed when I passed by it to see it's a vacant lot (where 60 lanes once lived).

Wild Kingdom always started at either 11:00 AM or Noon. And, yeah, it pretty much signaled the end of Saturday morning and always bummed me out. But then I'd eat lunch and forget about it and go out and bike around with the neighborhood kids.

I remember switching over from Wild Kingdom to whatever that show was that adapted children's books. A very vague memory. Because usually I never ever saw the end of the shows. Lunch would take priority...

For me, it was either "American Bandstand" on ABC, or one NBC affiliate's local "High School Quiz" program that did it!

Which is what kids should be today today, none of those gaming crap or watching obnoxious Nick/Disney programming!

Is that the ABC Weekend Specials? That was my favorite!

Is that what those were? For awhile it was hosted by an animated cat named "Readmore" and that's as much as I can remember. I know some of those adaptations ended up on VHS. I remember seeing The Mouse and The Motorcycle in the kids section of the video store.

That's the one!

Because I only focused on CBS, it's only fair to link this here...
